There are several versions, this is the recipe for Grandma Angela that includes the use of Sassolino , the liqueur to taste anisate Sassuolo.

INGREDIENTS

3 ounces of dark chocolate
1 pound of butter
3 eggs
5 tablespoons of flour
1/2 dose of yeast
1 cup coffee liqueur pebble

Melt the chocolate in a saucepan with the butter, and let cool.
Meanwhile whisk the egg whites with a pinch of salt. Add to the mixture cooled sugar, egg yolks and liqueur, mix well together. Add the egg whites, stirring from the bottom up.

Add the flour and baking powder. Pour into greased and floured mold or baking paper. Bake for 20-25 minutes at 180 degrees (oven). When the cake has cooled, decorate with icing sugar and cut into small pieces for the service as being a very delicate cake slice would break.
